    Kamal KAMADOLI (guest) I was a student of Lamington High School from 1944 to 1951. I have a lot of good memories of my student days there, it's disciplinary Principal J.Mathais (who served in that position for the longest time in the history of the school), many high calibered and inspiring teachers, and as well as students. My three brothers also studied at this Lamington High School. Two (including myself) settled in USA as engineers, and one brother taught at the Lamington High School and was also principal of that school for four years before retiring. My younger brother was a famous physician who practiced in Hubli until his death in 1995. For those interested to know who was Lamington after whom the high school is named: The Second Baron Lamington was born in London on 29th July 1860. He was educated at Eton College (Christ Church, Oxford) and got married in 1895. From 1903-1907, Baron Lamington was appointed as Governor of Bombay State in India. Governor Lamington was invited to be the Chief Guest for the opening ceremony of the High School in Hubli (Dharwar District, Bombay Presidency). Thus the school came to be known as Lamington High School. After returning to England, Lord Baron was recruited for the army during World War-1 from 1914-18. In 1919, he was assigned to the post of Commander of British Relief in Syria. Lord Lamington received such high honors as GCMG, GCIE, FRGS from the British Government. He died on 16th September 1940 at Lamington House, Lanark in Lanarkshire county, Scotland where he is buried along with his wife.
